You can see my favorite video of him here. Just watch that, and prepare to be blown away.
Also, download/buy/steal/spread the word about his album Shallow Grave. It is honestly a perfect folk album (if you like folk music).
The other thing I love about that man is that his fingerpicking is absurd. Most of the time I can see a musician playing something and at least say to myself "yeah, I understand what he is playing. I personally can't do it, but at least I know what he is doing." But the fingerpicking in the song Where Do My Bluebirds Fly? is just beyond me. I think that is the first link I posted... I could be wrong though. Either way, watch what his left hand (picking hand) is doing. I CAN'T FUNCTION LIKE THAT!!!!!
I bought a new metronome today. So now I can work on my fingerpicking and my timing
simultaneously! I also replaced the strings on my mandolin. Or at least the broken one and the frayed one...
(I don't know why that picture turned out so small...) But this means that my instrument count is as follows:- 1 Acoustic Guitar
- 4 Electric Guitars
- 2 Amps (One Solid-State, One Tube)
- 1 Ukulele
- 1 Mandolin
- 1 Keyboard
- 1 Piano
That makes me really happy :)
I am currently watching the movie Lady Snowblood and I am quite pleased. It is a little slow, but the storyline is definitely solid and the blood is satisfying. I think either tomorrow or this weekend I am going to watch The Guinea Pig Series. Apparently, they are just overly disturbing films. The series consists of:
-The Devil's Experiment
-Flowers of Flesh and Blood
-He Never Dies
-Mermaid in a Manhole
-Android of Notre Dame
-Devil Woman Doctor
-Slaughter Special
God, I'm pumped.
I like my Fender Mustang.
