It is currently almost 6am and what better time than now to update my blog?
Really, the only reason I am doing this is because I don't want to get up and take the 5 steps to turn off my lamp. Although, I probably will soon. I essentially just wanted things to look a bit different. I'm going to try some new things over the next few days.
One thing I would like to say is this (and pardon my french but...):
Fuck going to the dentist.
I had to go and get some fillings today, three specifically, and while they were doing their drilling or what-have-you, somehow my lip got caught in the crossfire and now I have a huge, uncomfortable scab about the size of a dime. Yeah, great job! Every time I yawn, the scab breaks and bleeds. I hate my life. But not really. Also, no matter how much Novocaine they give me, it can't deter the sound of that drill. That is the most painful thing about this whole process. My head was throbbing when it was all said and done.
Side Note: I think I want to start mapping out my album so I can get all of the preliminary details worked out, then find somewhere to record. Also: I still want a puppy :(
(this is LoBo. I adore him and would adopt him in a heartbeat if my mom would let me...)
I need to go buy something to hold all of my movies. The amount of movies I own greatly surpasses the amount of space I have for them. I should probably look into that sometime soon.
Also, I forgot why I made this post in the first place. I wanted to put up my top 5 musicians I feel everyone should be acquainted with:
1. Kristian Matsson (
The Tallest Man on Earth)

This man... This man is one of the greatest guitar players I have heard in a long time. Not only that, but he is a great songwriter as well. I have been listening to his self titled EP and
Shallow Grave on repeat for a very long time now. Watch videos of this man on Youtube or go to a concert if he is playing or buy a cd, but make sure you definitely check this man out if you appreciate amazing musicians. I would give anything to be able to sound/play like this man.
POST WRITING NOTE: I am pretty sure I am obsessed with this man. Like, nothing on a sexual level or anything. He is just the single most badass human being on the face of the earth. I have listened to his album probably 20-30 times straight through and I'm still going. Seriously, get on this shit if you haven't downloaded it already. Why are you lallygagging?
2. Morrissey (
The Smiths, Morrissey)

Morrissey has been a big influence to me musically for a while. I was really drawn to his music in
The Smiths, particularly on tracks "This Charming Man" and "Half a Person."
Louder Than Bombs is one of my favorite albums, as you can see in my previous post about the top albums that describe my musical taste. If you get a chance, definitely download that one. He just recently released another solo album which is very well made and definitely worth checking out. Although, there is something about all of
The Smiths songs that I appreciate far more than his solo stuff. They just seem to be less blatantly offensive and have a more raw sound to them that is lacking in his more recent music. But then again, if you could make your music sound as good as it possibly could, wouldn't you?
3. Devendra Banhart (
Megapuss, Devendra Banhart)

I never really appreciated Devendra until I heard the song "Carmensita" and when I heard that I was simply just blown away. I watched the music video because I had heard Natalie Portman was in it (and she is, just as gorgeous as ever). I don't really have a favorite CD per se, but I have a lot of favorite individual tracks: "Little Yellow Spider", "At The Hop", "Carmensita" and "Fall" just to name a few. But definitely give him a listen and watch videos of him on Youtube because he is the man. Also, he looks sort of like Jesus. So there is a plus.
4. Elliott Smith (
Heatmiser, Elliott Smith)
